Which keep skyrim

Serving as both Helgen 's prison and a barracks for the Imperial Legion , the Dragonborn was forced to flee through the location as Alduin massacred its inhabitants and razed the surrounding town, Helgen.

Despite being a seemingly normal prison and base in the middle of Helgen, it seems to have a pretty complex system of caves beneath all of the rooms and cells that all lead out of this small hole, which ends up leading to the front of the town, close to the main path.

Without this hole, the Dragonborn may not have been able to escape Helgen. Returning to Helgen later in the game reveals a myriad of burned out buildings and other destruction. Make your way through the inn. When you land in the inn, you will need to make your way east to the other side of the inn where a hole will be leading to the first floor.

A quest marker will indicate where you need to head to in case you are unable to find the hole. Once you are on the first floor, you will be required to head out the front door, where you will see Hadvar. Follow Hadvar through the ruins. Hadvar will ask you to follow him through the ruins of Helgen.

Hadvar will head northeast towards a couple of buildings. You will pass in between a building and a stone wall.

Alduin will land on the stone wall and direct his flame into the alleyway around the corner to your right. Once he flies away, proceed to follow Hadvar up the steps and then make a left north inside a ruined building. You will come across Imperial soldiers fighting Alduin in the street and meet up with General Tullius.

If you stray too far you can take significant damage and die. Stay close behind Hadvar as you make your way to the keep. General Tullius will instruct Hadvar to retreat to the keep. Follow Hadvar north and then make a left towards the entrance to the keep. Here you will come across Ralof just before entering the keep. Follow Hadvar or Ralof into the keep. Beyond the bear is an exit to the cave. Upon exiting, Alduin can be seen flying overhead.

Ralof will direct the Dragonborn to his sister, Gerdur , who lives in Riverwood. At this point the Dragonborn can choose to follow Ralof to Riverwood, or split up and find their own way.

If the Dragonborn decides to split up, some unique dialogue can be missed. If they choose to follow Ralof, a bandit and three wolves will attack. After entering the keep with Hadvar, he unbinds the Dragonborn and tells them to look for equipment. In the corner of the room there is a warden's chest where an iron sword , Imperial light armor , Imperial light boots , and a Helgen Keep key can be found, in a chest in front of one of the beds an Imperial light helmet can be found.

After opening the door with the key, pulling the chain will open the wooden gate. Behind the gate there are two hostile Stormcloaks. After defeating them there is another door, leading to the stairs.

As they walk down the hallway, the dragon's activities above will cause the ceiling to fall, forcing them to divert through a door on their left that leads into a store room, where two more Stormcloaks are gathering supplies. When the fight is won Hadvar advises the Dragonborn to go through the barrels to find potions. Going down, there is a torture room, where the torturer and his assistant are battling the two Stormcloaks.

If the torturer survives, the following dialogue will occur:. Torturer: "You fellows happened along just in time. These boys seemed a bit upset at how I've been entertaining their comrades. A dragon is attacking Helgen! Don't make up nonsense.

We need to get out of here. I said the keep is under attack! If the Torturer's Assistant is alive, he will say at this point: "Forget the old man. I'll come with you. Torturer: "[sarcastically to the player] Sure, take all my things, please. There is a dead mage in the central cage that wears a novice hood and robes and carries 25 and two potions of minor magicka. There is also more septims on the floor of the cage, and a Sparks spell tome.

The cage and other prison doors can be picked open with the Lockpicking skill. Next to the knapsack are The Book of the Dragonborn and an iron dagger. Beyond the torture room is a hallway lined with cells.

Eventually, a natural cave is entered, filled with about ten more Stormcloaks to kill. Some of them are near a pool of oil which can be set ablaze with the Flames spell. If the Torturer's Assistant is still alive at this point, he will stay behind to make sure the Torturer is alright and wish Hadvar and the Dragonborn good luck.

Then, a bridge which is activated by a lever nearby must be crossed. After going through the bridge and entering the cave, Alduin will roar, which causes the ceiling above the bridge to collapse.

Now, the Dragonborn only needs to follow the quest marker along with Hadvar. There is a skeleton near the passage leading towards a cavern. The next cavern consists of two to four of the smaller variety of frostbite spiders , plus two larger ones not to be mistaken for giant frostbite spiders that will drop down from the ceiling.

After killing the spiders, exit through another passageway. After getting the potion, a sleeping bear is found. Hadvar gives the Dragonborn a Long Bow and twelve iron arrows , suggesting either sneaking past or killing the bear. After the bear has been dealt with, the two can exit the cave. Upon exiting, Alduin can be seen flying overhead, retreating to parts unknown after completing his rampage of Helgen.

After exiting the cave, Hadvar will direct the Dragonborn to his uncle, Alvor , who lives in Riverwood.

At this point the Dragonborn can choose to follow Hadvar to Riverwood, or split up and find their own way. If the Dragonborn decides to split up, unique dialogue can be missed. Following Ralof Stormcloaks grants slightly better heavy armor because one of the guards who must be killed is the Imperial Captain from the executions, which means that her Imperial armor can be picked up.

This gives very helpful protection in the early part of the game. After continuing to Riverwood, Gerdur will give the Dragonborn her house key. If the Dragonborn sides with Hadvar Imperial Legion , the pile of iron and steel ingots which spawn next to the workbench outside of Alvor and Sigrid's house can be taken freely. This gives the Dragonborn a better weapon from the start if they have Steel Smithing.

The armor and weapons next to the grindstone and in the basement of his house can also be taken. However, even if the player sides with Ralof, all these items can still be acquired if the Dragonborn later assists Alvor in smithing, improving their disposition with him. I have been captured by the Empire and sentenced to death alongside the Stormcloak rebels. We were taken to Helgen, but before I could be executed a dragon appeared and attacked the town. I need to find some way to escape. Before adding a bug to this list, consider the following: Please reload an old save to confirm if the bug is still happening. After following the corridor until it becomes a dead-end, there is a door to the left leading to a kitchen. There are two soldiers in here.

Hanging from the center pillar are two garlic braids and two leaves of dried elves ear. Hanging in front of the fireplace is a rabbit and a pheasant. On the other side of the center pillar is a small round table with a bottle of Alto wine. Opposite the entrance is a large dining table with two chairs. Around the table are three sets of shelves. Among the utensils on the table is a slice of bread and a bottle of Alto wine.

On the left-hand shelves is a potion of minor magicka and a salt pile. On the right-hand shelves is a potion of minor healing and a bottle of wine. Through the connecting archway is a storage area. There is a barrel to the left that contains five potions, three of minor healing, one of minor magicka, and one of minor stamina.

There are three sacks underneath the overhanging shelf, and another on the other side of the steps up to that shelf. There is a table to the right with a salt pile and a potion of minor healing. Above that hang two more rabbits. Just in front of the table is a basket with four rock warbler eggs. The door by your companion leads to a corridor going down further into the keep.

The next room is a torture room. The Torturer and Torturer's Assistant can be found here in combat with two Stormcloak soldiers. Against the far wall are three novice-locked cells. The side ones are empty and the middle one contains a dead mage , who carries 25 gold pieces, two potions of minor magicka, a novice hood , and novice robes.

Alongside him in the cell are four gold pieces, another potion of minor magicka and a copy of the Spell Tome: Sparks.
